the enclosure

represents the interaction of earth- and cosmic energies within the chamber of a passage-tomb.

made visible as a solid enclosure of light and dark alternating zig-zags that are chainsawed out of nineteen trunks of elm and ash.

in legend, these two trees are described as 'the parents of mankind' that represent polarities: male(elm) and female(ash). the elm was also linked to death and grief, while the ash was seen as the allembracing world-tree 'yggdrasil' that connects different realities.

an adult finds enough space to stand or sit within the enclosure.

the opening is towards the painting. diameter 1.3m approx., height 2.1m
